Daily Itinerary Items

Day 1 : Fly to Germany
Our wonderful European vacation begins with an overnight flight to Frankfurt.

Day 2 : Rothenburg
We meet our European Guide on arrival in Frankfurt. Our sightseeing starts immediately as we visit the town of Würzburg, a beautiful Baroque city on the scenic Romantic Road. We continue on to Rothenburg, one of Germany’s best known and best preserved medieval cities for our accommodations at Prinzhotel or Altes Brauhaus for the next two nights. Tonight we get acquainted with our new friends at a Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner. D

Day 3 : Enjoy a Medieval Dinner
Enjoy a European-style buffet breakfast before beginning each day. Learn the fascinating story of Rothenburg, from its origins as a stronghold at the crossroad of important trade routes to its downfall during the 30 Years War. This fascinating medieval town is ringed with towers, walls and gateways that date from the 16th century. Tonight we have dinner in a medieval restaurant followed by a walk back in time with the Night-Watchman tour of Rothenburg. B,D

Day 4 : Tour Munich
We visit Munich and see the famous Glockenspiel animated clock in the Marienplatz, the town square in the traditional city center, and enjoy lunch at Munich’s famous food and farmer's market. Our accommodations for the next two nights are at the Landhotel Bold in the village of Oberammergau, Germany, famous for its colorful home murals and Passion Play, held once every decade. B,D

Day 5 : Neuschwanstein Castle
The inspiration for Disney's Magic Kingdom Castle was the fairytale-like Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most recognized castles in the world. The castle sits high above the charming town of Füssen, the last stop of Germany’s Romantic Road. After lunch in Füssen, we return to Oberammergau. B

Day 6: Mozart Dinner Concert
Be enthralled by Salzburg, Austria, the beautiful city featured in the movie, The Sound of Music.. A local guide joins us as we are charmed by the architecture and stroll through Mirabell Gardens before enjoying free time at our leisure. After checking into the Parkhotel Castellani in Salzburg, we are off to one of the highlights of the tour, a Mozart Dinner Concert in the oldest and most elegant restaurant in northern Europe. Savor the superb three-course dinner as we fall under the spell of classical music in the town of Mozart's birth. B,D

Day 7 : Innsbruck
Known for its Austrian crystal, we stop in Rattenberg en route to Innsbruck as Alpine scenery surrounds us. During our visit to the famous ski resort town of Innsbruck, we view the Imperial Palace and the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof), built in 1500 as a royal balcony. B,D

Day 8 : Switzerland
We continue along pretty alpine valleys to Liechtenstein, the smallest principality in Europe. Later, we ascend 6,000-foot Mount Rigi by cog railway. Enjoy spectacular views of Lake Lucerne and the Swiss Alps. Later, we travel along the shores of Lake Lucerne and have an orientation tour of the resort city of Lucerne. We enjoy two nights at Hotel Waldstatterhof. B

Day 9 : Lucerne
A local guide joins us to visit world-famous sights such as the Chapel Bridge with the octagonal Water Tower, the Jesuit Church and the Lion Monument of Lucerne. Our lunch is at the Stadtkeller Folklore Restaurant where we enjoy traditional Swiss fare, music and entertainment. The afternoon is open for shopping for local handicrafts, Swiss chocolate, clocks and watches. B,L

Day 10 : Black Forest & Heidelberg
Traveling north, we cross back into Germany into the legendary Black Forest, famous for its handcrafted cuckoo clocks. We visit Heidelberg, Germany's oldest and most famous university town renowned for its Baroque old town narrow streets, picturesque red-roof tiled houses, beautiful 18th-century bridge and world-famous mighty castle ruins. Tonight, we settle into our comfortable ccommodations in Heidelberg. B,D

Day 11 : Rhine River Cruise
Visit the delightful town of Rudesheim before our afternoon cruise on the Rhine River to the Lorelei Rock. This area of the Middle Rhine is known for its castles and fortresses and the many vineyards spilling down the hillsides to the river. Relish the memories of our European vacations with new friends at our Holiday Vacations farewell dinner as we overnight in Wiesbaden, Germany. B,D

Day 12 : Fond Farewells
We return to Frankfurt and board our flight home. We will long remember the fun we had on our visit to Central Europe. CB
