Daily Itinerary Items

Day 1 : Depart USA
Depart the USA on our overnight flight to Europe.


Day 2 : Fly to Nairobi
We arrive in Europe early this morning to connect to our flight to Nairobi. We transfer to the luxurious Residences at Karen that are tucked away in a pleasant forested area overlooking the second hole of the Karen Golf Course. A large part of the 18-hole course was built on the former coffee estate developed by the pioneer Karen Blixen, whose life and times were depicted in the film Out of Africa.


Day 3 : Visit an Elephant Orphanage
We visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, a haven for elephant orphans, rhinos and other animals. After lunch we learn about the different aspects of Kenyan culture exhibited at Bomas of Kenya. B,l,d


Day 4 : Tour Aberdare National Park
We depart for Central Kenya, arriving at the Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch. Our overnight accommodations are at The Ark nestled in Aberdare National Park. This unique hotel overlooks a floodlit waterhole and a salt lick which attracts a host of wildlife. B,L,D


Day 5 : Sarova Shaba Game Lodge
We depart for the Samburu Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, our home for two nights. We enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of the elusive leopard, lion, elephant, gerenuk, grevys zebra, reticulated giraffe, oryx and many others. B,L,D


Day 6 : Samburu, Shaba & Buffalo Springs
Morning and afternoon game drives gives us more opportunities to enjoy the unique game species which are found only north of the Equator. B,L,D


Day 7 : Sweetwaters Game Reserve
Travel to Sweetwaters Game Reserve. En route we visit a local school and Nanyuki Spinners & Weavers - a women’s self help project started with the main aim of training women living in the surrounding villages in the craft of spinning, knitting and weaving. We arrive at Sweetwaters Tented Camp which lies in the heart of the privately owned 24,000-acre Sweetwaters Game Reserve. Each tent has a thatched roof, an en suite bathroom and its own veranda. After lunch we enjoy a late afternoon game drive showcasing a plethora of wildlife – lion, elephant, rhino, cheetah and over 400 species of birds. We also visit Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary during our stay. B,L,D


Day 8 : Lake Nakuru National Park
We depart for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch at the Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp. We enjoy an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park and around the lake that is famous for its large concentration of pink flamingos and other birdlife. We have a chance to see many animals including rhino, reedbuck, bushbuck, warthog, leopard, baboon and Rothschild giraffe. B,L,D


Day 9 : Enjoy Mara Serena Lodge
This morning we drive to the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya's most precious wildlife sanctuary. After lunch at Sarova Mara Game Camp, we enjoy an afternoon game drive en route to the Mara Serena Safari Lodge and our home for the next three nights. The lodge is the ultimate safari destination. Set high on the saddle of a hill, the lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Maasai Mara. B,L,D


Day 10 : Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today we enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The Maasai Mara Reserve is big game country. Game are found here in staggering numbers which in turn supports a tremendous predator population. B,L,D


Day 11 : Wonder at the Great Migration
The great Mara-Serengeti ecosystem is home to the "Big Five" of Africa: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. It is also an exceptional place to see birds. During our morning and afternoon game drives today, we have the opportunity to experience one of the great spectacles on earth: The Great Migration! During this time of the year, over a million wildebeest and thousands of zebra and antelope migrate across the Mara River from Tanzania in search of food and water. B,L,D


Day 12 : Visit the Museums of Kenya
After breakfast we enjoy one last game drive in the Mara followed by a transfer to the airstrip for our flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi we visit the National Museums of Kenya. Exhibitions include contemporary art, peoples of Kenya, and headdresses of Kenya. Early this evening we enjoy our Farewell Dinner at the Tamarind Restaurant before transferring to the airport to board our overnight flight to Europe. B,L,D


Day 13 : Return Home
We return home with wonderful memories of our amazing African safari.
