Each week, as the “Morning Edition” host for Wisconsin Public Radio, Melissa speaks to more than 120,000 people each week. But as a kid, even though she loved listening to the radio, she hated the sound of her own voice. But after newscasting for her student radio station at Central Michigan University, Melissa was hired at WKAR, the public radio station at Michigan State University, where she spent 27 years as a music announcer and “Morning Edition” host. She came to Wisconsin Public Radio in 2018 as the result of a nationwide search, and has enjoyed her move to Wisconsin.
Melissa lost spectacularly on “Jeopardy” in 2005. She has jumped out of an airplane (wearing a parachute) in order to help a colleague do a radio piece. She even once got hit by lightning hosting “All Things Considered.” And after some research, it looks like she is NOT related to Laura Ingalls Wilder. Melissa likes to write, cook, play and listen to music, and hang with her kitties.
Join her and WPR listeners on this fabulous trip of a lifetime.
