Explore the stunning fall foliage of the Smoky Mountains and the culture, history, and tastes of Appalachia. In Asheville, North Carolina, we will tour the country's largest private residence, The Biltmore Estate, before boarding a motorcoach and driving through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In Pigeon Forge, Tennessee we'll spend an afternoon in Dolly Parton's Appalachian theme park Dollywood and watch captivating performances including the Hatfield & McCoy dinner show and the incredible Smoky Mountain Opry. In Louisville, Kentucky, we will spend a morning at Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby, tour the Louisville Slugger Museum, and feel the spirit of Halloween at the Louisville Jack O' Lantern Spectacular.

Day 1 : Our Adventure Begins
Begin the tour with a journey by motorcoach into the great state of Virginia.
Day 2 : The Biltmore
After an included breakfast, depart for Asheville and the Biltmore Estate, the country’s largest private residence. Upon arrival in Antler Hill Village we have free time for lunch and exploration, including complimentary wine tasting at the Biltmore Estate Winery or shopping at many boutiques and craft stores.
Later, tour the vast Biltmore mansion with an audio guide.
Day 3 : The Smoky Mountains
We board our motorcoach and drive into Great Smoky Mountains National Park to enjoy the breathtaking views. The Smokies are the highest mountains east of the Rockies, rising to more than 5,000 feet.
Learn about the park during a guided driving tour, then ride the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway to the top of Mt. Harrison.
There’s free time to savor the sights or walk around town, then travel to Pigeon Forge for the Hatfield & McCoy dinner show with our overnight accommodations nearby.
Day 4 : Dollywood
In the morning we’re off to Pigeon Forge’s Titanic Museum, featuring a guided tour with exhibits, artifacts and replica architecture of the famous passenger liner. Enjoy lunch in a secret room aboard the "ship."
Spend the remainder of the afternoon at Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s fascinating amusement park and experience impressive live performances.
This evening we enjoy live performance during a showing of Country Tonight in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with two hours of song, dance, soulful gospel, comedy, and American patriotism. Experience the joys of country music old and new at this spectacular show!
Day 5 : Museum of Appalachia
We’re Kentucky-bound this morning with a stop at the Museum of Appalachia, a tribute to the spirit of the American South. Browse historical exhibits, hear musicians play old-time music, and stroll through rustic paths, gardens and cabins that reflect a bygone era.
We arrive in the Bluegrass State and check-in to our comfortable accommodations in Lexington for a two-night stay.
Day 6 : Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
The day kicks off with a tour of the Mary Todd Lincoln House.
Afterwards, visit the Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, a beautiful heritage park revealing the culture, community, and ingenuity of the Kentucky Shakers. Lunch features delicious dishes from fresh ingredients grown in the village.
There’s time to browse the shops and listen to a musical performance before we depart for the Old Friends at Dream Chase Farm, a home to thoroughbreds living out their Golden Years in comfort after a career in racing or breeding.
Day 7 : My Old Kentucky Home
Tour the My Old Kentucky Home mansion, one of America's most famous and celebrated landmarks. Witness extraordinary antiques, paintings, fashion, stories, and end with a culinary class and tasting of old fashioned southern biscuits.
We have time for lunch in Bardstown before departing for Louisville.
Upon arrival we visit Whiskey Row for a tour of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.
This evening spend time at the Louisville Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular, in which 5,000 professionally-carved pumpkins illuminate an enchanting trail along Iroquois Park.
Day 8 : Louisville Sights
There’s no experience quite like a morning at Churchill Downs Racetrack, home of the Kentucky Derby. Get behind the scenes of the legendary racetrack with breakfast in the Horsemen’s Track Kitchen, then tour Churchill Downs Racetrack, the Kentucky Derby Museum and more!
This afternoon, celebrate the end of your fantastic adventure in the south with a Farewell Lunch at the historic Brown Hotel and learn how baseball bats are made at the Louisville Slugger Museum.
Day 9 : Fond Farewells
We return home, bidding farewell to Louisville with our cherished memories.

JET 24/FOX 66 Chief Meteorologist Tom Atkins brings you area weather weeknights at 5, 5:30, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. A graduate of Iowa State University, Tom began his broadcasting career in Des Moines, Iowa. He joined the Action News 24 Team in 1995.
Tom wanted to be a TV weatherman from the time his parents bought him weather station science kit for his sixth birthday. He began his first weather job in high school at age 16 and in the 1980s was a tornado chaser.
Tom moved to Erie in the late 1980s to live in an area that received a lot of snow. He and his wife, Jan, along with the “Snow Dog” Junebug, keep a close eye on area weather. He also teaches meteorology at the local Penn State University campus, the Behrend College. Tom has previously hosted several Holiday Vacations tours.
