Day 4 : Silverton Train Ride
After an included breakfast this morning we head south towards Silverton, taking in spectacular views of the Million Dollar Highway en route.
Located in the heart of the breathtaking San Juan Mountains, the Silverton area was packed with mining camps in the late 1800s in search of silver and gold. During free time to explore the historic downtown district you are welcome to visit the Mining Heritage Center, the restored 1902 County Jail Museum, or take an optional carriage ride along the main drag. Next, board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This classic steam-powered locomotive follows the same tracks the settlers once took through the area. Marvel at stunning canyons and the San Juan National Forest as we travel along the Animas River.
Day 5 : Mesa Verde National Park
Today we receive a glimpse into the lives of the ancient Pueblo people during a driving tour of Mesa Verde National Park. Featuring nearly five thousand archaeological sites and six hundred cave dwellings, including some of the best preserved in the country, our knowledgeable guide teaches us about the history and culture of the fascinating people who inhabited this area from 600 - 1300 AD.
This afternoon we return to Durango and enjoy leisure time to relax or explore all that the town has to offer.

Clarence M. Mitchell, IV, known to WBAL listeners as “C4,” brings a lifetime of political experiences and relationships to WBAL Radio.C4 is a part of a four-generation family legacy of politics and public service in Maryland.
He was elected to the Maryland State Senate in 1998, representing the same legislative district that his father, Senator Clarence M. Mitchell, III, had represented for 20 years.Because of his family’s political tradition, his politics are often difficult to define. Even as a Democrat, he supported Republicans like Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., but he has also legally challenged the gerrymandered redistricting map created by then-Democratic Governor Parris Glendening. Like his opinions or not, C4 will make you think and always invite you to be a part of the discussion.
C4 attended Baltimore City Public Schools, eventually graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute at age 17. Having been accepted at Harvard University, C4 instead chose to stay close to his family by attending the University of Maryland College Park. He would later attend the University of Maryland Baltimore County and Morgan State University.
