Lose yourself in the Pacific Northwest’s beauty with a San Juan Islands cruise, the scenic Cascade Loop, and a Seattle city tour. Day 1 : Fly to Washington

We fly to Seattle and check-in to our comfortable hotel. The evening is ours to relax and get acquainted with our fellow travelers.

Day 2 : Seattle City Tour

A knowledgeable local guide will join our group to share fascinating facts and interesting stories as we go on a city tour of Seattle. We have lunch at Pike Place Market with free time for shopping at any of their numerous vendors. In the afternoon we visit the Space Needle, enjoying 360-degree views of Seattle and Elliott Bay, and then explore the glass art wonderland next door at Chihuly Garden & Glass. Later, get to know your traveling companions at a Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner nearby.

Day 3 : Privately Chartered Cruise

We depart for the Fairhaven Docks in Bellingham, WA to board our private boat for a two-day, one-night cruise of the San Juan Islands. This cluster of cozy islands nestled between Puget Sound and Vancouver Island is an enchanting yet low-key crossroads of relaxation and Northwest beauty. At midday, our cruise continues with a savory cracked crab lunch. As we dine our ship’s crew will search for orca, humpback whales, bald eagles, harbor seals, and other wildlife that call this archipelago home. This afternoon, we dock at the coastal town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. Explore downtown’s shops, galleries, pubs, or the Whale Museum. Our accommodations are at the Friday Harbor Suites on San Juan Island.

Day 4 : Roche Harbor & Sucia Island

We cruise north this morning to visit the Roche Harbor Resort. After a guided tour, we have plenty of time to stroll the resort on our own. The on-site San Juan Sculpture park is the largest park of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. Lunch is freshly-prepared and served on board before we cruise north for the picturesque coves and shorelines of Sucia Island. We are free to relax or stroll through the forest or along the shoreline. After our unforgettable visit, we board the ship for the last time and return to Bellingham and check-in to our hotel.

Day 5 : North Cascade National Park

Today we begin our journey east, where we will see majestic mountains, coursing rivers and lush valleys along the Cascade Loop. Learn about the mountain range at the visitor center and stop for photos at the spectacular Diablo Lake Vista Point, where several forested cliffs rise out of pristine teal-colored waters. Discover the Old West in Winthrop where we have leisure time for lunch and exploring downtown’s Western charm, complete with wood boardwalks and iconic storefront facades. After we check-in to our overnight accommodations at the Sun Mountain Lodge, we enjoy an included dinner.

Day 6 : Eastern Cascades

Our fascinating journey around the Cascade Loop continues south through Chelan and into Wenatchee. We stop at the Pybus Market, one of Washington's most unique destinations. There is free time to explore the many local artisan vendors and get some lunch before continuing to the Aplets & Cotlets Candy Kitchen Factory. Afterwards, we have time to browse the dozens of boutique stores in the Bavarian-inspired town of Leavenworth, where we will overnight this evening.

Day 7 : Boeing Factory Tour

We conclude our tour around the Cascade Loop in Everett, Washington, home to the largest building on the planet by volume – the Boeing Everett Factory. On the Boeing Future of Flight Aviation tour, we see the fascinating machines and engineering marvels that help to assemble Boeing’s fleet of airliners and cargo planes. Later we gather for a Farewell Dinner to celebrate our new friends and adventures in the Pacific Northwest. Our overnight accommodations are near the Seattle airport.

We return home with lifelong memories of our incredible San Juan Islands & the Cascades adventure.

David Reed

David has been the Sports Director and Sports Anchor at KXII-TV since July 2001. He began his broadcasting career in 1994 at KCEN-TV in Waco. He has also worked at KBTX-TV in College Station and KTBC-TV in Austin.

David returned home to Grayson County in 2001, where he has the opportunity to cover the sports he was raised watching and playing. He has won several awards during his time at KXII. He was honored by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters for the state’s best sportscast in 2008, 2011 and 2014. The Oklahoma AP awarded David their top sportscast award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. David has also been honored by the TAPB as Sportscaster of the Year four times.

David enjoys covering Texoma sports and has covered everything from the Battle of the Axe, to the Mavericks run to the 2006 and 2011 NBA Finals. He has covered several major bowl games including the Cotton, Orange, Fiesta, Sugar and Alamo Bowls.

David and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Peyton and Preston.
