Day 1 : Scotland Bound
We begin with an overnight flight across the pond to Scotland.
Day 2 : Glasgow
This morning we tour Glasgow, Scotland’s largest and most colorful city where we marvel at the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, explore the Riverside Museum of Transportation, enjoy artful city murals and more! Our accommodations for the next three nights are at the Clayton Hotel in Glasgow. We join this evening for a Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner.
Day 3 : Edinburgh & The Royal Yacht Britannia
Experience Edinburgh today on a tour with a Blue Badge Guide featuring the history of Georgian New Town and medieval Old Town. First we explore The Royal Yacht Britannia, vacation home to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family for over 40 years, the ship having sailed over one million miles around the world. We then discover imposing Edinburgh Castle. Towering above the city on a hillside, we tour this historic fortress, one of the most important military strongholds in the country’s history.
Day 4 : Inveraray Castle & Loch Lomond
Today we leave the bustle of Glasgow for the scenic splendor of Inveraray. Overlooking Loch Fyne and nestled among gorgeous gardens sits Inveraray Castle. This sprawling home to the Clan Campbell exudes history and sophistication. After lunch at The George Hotel's pub, we cruise the country’s most scenic waterway, Loch Lomond. Panoramic views of the famous Scottish Highlands lay out before us as we glide along this impressive loch. A special treat this afternoon is Glengoyne Distillery where we learn about the Scotch-making process and enjoy a tasty sample of what is famously considered the “water of life” in Scotland.
Day 5 : Ferry to Belfast
Start the day exploring Scotland's National Museum of Rural Life, a five-star museum presenting a collection of tractors, harvesters, and combines that also functions as a historic commercial dairy farm. Next we board the ferry for a pleasant trip to Northern Ireland. Our Cairnryan Port Superferry journey carries us across the Irish Sea to Belfast.
Day 6 : Titanic Belfast & Giant’s Causeway
This morning we visit Titanic Belfast, the world's largest tourist attraction dedicated to the Titanic. It celebrates the region's maritime heritage and commemorates the birthplace of the world’s most famous ship extending over nine interactive galleries. In the afternoon, we receive our first glimpse of Northern Ireland’s majestic coast on our journey to discover the rugged beauty of Giant’s Causeway. This UNESCO World Heritage Site and unique geological volcanic wonder displays unparalleled landscapes with spectacular, surreal views. Enjoy dinner tonight at Robinsons Pub.
Day 7 : Glenshane Country Farm & Derry City Walls
This morning, Northern Ireland’s largest city comes alive on a Blue Badge guided tour of Belfast, a city rich with history, culture, and Irish craic. We see the Titanic Quarter, City Hall, St. Anne’s Cathedral, Queens University, and learn about Northern Ireland’s historic “troubles.” This afternoon we travel to Maghera and visit the farm of Jamese McCloy, a fourth-generation farmer who will give you a lively demonstration of the centuries-old skill of sheep herding. Your visit to Glenshane Country Farm set in the foothills of the Sperrin mountains will be an experience you won’t soon forget. Next, we travel to the historic walled city of Derry. We discover the city’s fortified walls and gates on a guided walking tour. Our overnight this evening is at the Radisson Blu in Letterkenney, a bonny Northern Irish metro that started as a market town in the 17th century. Known as “the Cathedral Town,” it was recently rated as the country’s “tidiest” urban center.
Day 8 : Heather Hill Farm
Heather Hill Farm is a small, diverse farm in Dunkineely producing eggs, chicken, lambs, turkey, and honey. The farm owner, Cathal Mooney, has a background in education, the food industry, and project management. Learn how he has developed his farm to be a sustainable and regenerative enterprise, projected to be the wave of the future in agriculture. Late this afternoon, enjoy relaxing on a scenic drive to Donegal and have a tasty supper when we arrive at the Mill Park Hotel
Day 9 : Belleek Pottery
Belleek Pottery is our first destination today. We gather in the visitor center before a guided tour, learning the secrets of the world-renowned pottery's craftsmanship. Breaking for lunch in Enniskillen, we enjoy this quaint country town located on an island that separates the upper and lower sections of the Lough Erne lakes. Next, we visit a local dairy farm to learn about small Irish dairy farming. We enjoy dinner and the next two nights at the Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa near Dublin where we indulge in luxurious amenities with the lovely Irish countryside surrounding us.
Day 10 : Dublin
Discover Dublin this morning on a guided city tour. View Trinity College, Dublin Castle, the Spire of Dublin, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Ha’penny Bridge, and visit the National Museum of Ireland. This evening we delight in Taylors Three Rock Dinner and Show featuring traditional Irish music and award-winning dancing.
