Day 1 : Fly to Chile
Our wonderful cruise vacation begins with an overnight flight to Santiago, Chile.
Day 2 : Santiago
This morning we arrive in Santiago, Chile’s capital, where we are met by a grand Andean mountain backdrop. A local guide joins us for a tour of this colorful city. We have the afternoon at our leisure to explore before checking-in to our hotel. Join your Tour Director and fellow travelers for a Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner.
Day 3 : Norwegian Star
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Santiago. Later this afternoon we board the Norwegian Star for our 14-night South American cruise. All meals are included aboard the ship.
Day 4 : At Sea
The day is free to enjoy the amenities aboard our ship. Take advantage of Norwegian Cruise Line’s choices in dining and entertainment. Relax on the deck or fill your day with onboard activities. Before dinner, enjoy a private Holiday Vacations Social Hour with included cocktails.
Day 5 : Puerto Montt
Our sightseeing begins at the tender port of Puerto Montt, a supply center for outlying fishing communities where snow-capped volcanoes lie behind shallow alpine hills and jewel-like glacier-carved waters.
Day 6 : Puerto Chacabuco
Traveling south, our ship anchors in the wild, beautiful Aysén District where we board tender boats for a day of exploring Chile. Waterfall-covered cliffs plunge deep into spectacular river valleys set against the snowy Southern Andes, the true entrance into the region's scenic wonders.
Day 7 : Patagonian Channels
We explore breathtaking Chilean fjords throughout the Patagonian channels. Magnificent canyon walls and Andean peaks surround us. Hundreds of species of birds, including the giant condor, play and feed here.
Day 8 : Strait of Magellan
Today we pass through the Strait of Magellan, named after Ferdinand Magellan, the first European to explore the strait. This waterway was the gateway between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans before the Panama Canal.
Day 9 : Punta Arenas
Our ship arrives at Punta Arenas where we get tendered into this historic port city. Before the opening of the Panama Canal, ships making the trek around Cape Horn passed through this port, situated on the hilly northern banks of the Strait of Magellan.
Day 10 : Ushuaia
We travel to the southern coast of the Tierra del Fuego, to the Argentinian city of Ushuaia. The city is surrounded by glorious mountains and overlooks the Beagle Channel. Shore excursion options include Tierra del Fuego National Park, home to some of the most spectacular wildlife in the world. Later we cruise the Beagle Channel past immense glaciers and marine life.
Day 11 : Cape Horn
Cape Horn is the southernmost point of South America, a chain of islands known as Tierra del Fuego. Ferdinand Magellan first passed through this area in 1520 and named the islands after the fires he saw of the indigenous peoples, visible from the sea. We too will view Cape Horn this way, its lighthouse still an iconic landmark for sailors. Lush terrain offers a wonderful glimpse into this tropical oasis at the edge of the world.
Day 12 : Falkland Islands
We tender into Stanley, the capital of the Falkland Islands and the smallest, most remote capital city in the world. The British-controlled Falkland Islands are well-known for their many varieties of wildlife including rockhopper and gentoo penguins.
Day 13 : At Sea
Enjoy our time at sea today.
Day 14 : Puerto Madryn
Our port of call is the Puerto Madryn area of Argentina, founded by the Welsh in the late 19th century. The area is known for its unique animal species.
Day 15 : At Sea
Find more ways to enjoy our luxurious cruise ship today. Relax poolside, catch a show, or treat yourself at the spa.
Day 16 : Montevideo
This morning our ship docks in Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital city. The day is free to explore the charming streets and colonial architecture of Old Town. Optional shore excursions include visiting Independence Square to see Salvo Palace, the Solis Theatre, and Rodo Park.
Day 17 : Buenos Aires
We arrive in Argentina's famed cosmopolitan capital, Buenos Aires, known for its eclectic culture, elegance, and tango. Enjoy a city tour with a local guide before our flight home.
