Experience the majestic scenery of the Rocky Mountains as we explore the Centennial State. Colorado is simply a treasure trove of natural wonders! Witness Mesa Verde’s marvelous cliff dwellings, ascend Pike’s Peak by Jeep with a professional guide, experience the thrill of the Million Dollar Highway, cross Royal Gorge by pedestrian bridge and gondola, and immerse yourself in surreal beauty at the Garden of the Gods. When we are not feasting our eyes on beautiful scenery, we will explore Vail, the famous resort town nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Grand Junction, celebrated as Colorado’s wine country, and historic Durango, where the spirit of the Old West is alive and well.

We fly to The Centennial State and enjoy overnight accommodations in Denver.
This morning we depart Denver and head into Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the sweeping overlooks of Trail Ridge Road as we wind across the highest paved highway in the country. Gaze in wonder at the over 12,000-foot high views of the scenic alpine tundra below, and along the way make informative stops at the visitor centers. Tonight we check-in to our overnight accommodations near the alpine village of Vail. B,D
Upon arrival in Grand Junction we have a tour and lunch at Varaison Vineyard and Winery. This afternoon we enjoy a scenic drive through Colorado National Monument. Great landscapes of the American West surround us along Rim Rock Drive with views of towering monoliths, red rock canyons, and wildlife such as bighorn sheep and eagles. Tonight, we have accommodations in downtown Grand Junction. B,L
After an included breakfast this morning we head south towards Silverton, taking in spectacular views of the Million Dollar Highway en route. Upon arrival, enjoy leisure time to explore the historic mining town’s many restaurants and shops before boarding the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This classic steam-powered locomotive follows the same tracks the settlers once took through the area. Marvel at stunning canyons and the San Juan National Forest. Accommodations for the next two evenings are in downtown Durango. B,D
Today we receive a glimpse into the lives of the ancient Pueblo people today on a step-on guided tour of Mesa Verde National Park. Featuring nearly five thousand archaeological sites and six hundred cave dwellings, including some of the best preserved in the country, we learn about the history and culture of the fascinating people who inhabited this area from 600 – 1300 AD. This afternoon we return to Durango and enjoy leisure time to relax or explore all that the town has to offer. B
We continue through the majestic terrain of the Rocky Mountains today and make our way through Wolf Creek Pass. At an elevation of 10,875 feet, it offers stunning views of the sweeping landscapes below. This afternoon we arrive at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park in Canon City. Offering 360-degree views of the surrounding scenery, we board a gondola and glide 1,200 feet above the Arkansas River. Traveling over 2,200 feet across the gorge, we marvel at unparalleled views of completely unspoiled vistas. Our accommodations for the next two nights are in Colorado Springs. B
This morning takes us on a 4 x 4 jeep adventure to the summit of Pikes Peak and back with authentic Western guides. Enjoy a little time at the summit of Pikes Peak to marvel at the scenery from over 14,000 feet before returning to the base. Later, we depart for the surreal beauty of the Garden of the Gods. This National Natural Landmark offers towering sandstone rock formations set against the snow-covered beauty of the mountains. Enjoy photo opportunities on our docent-led tour of this magical area. Tonight we gather for our Holiday Vacations Farewell Dinner. B,D
We fly home from Denver with wonderful memories of our time together in Colorado.
