A tradition that began in the 14th century, the familiar orange colored wheels of cheese arrive in the city’s cobblestone central plaza by horse-drawn carriage in the morning, where farmers advertise their cheeses. As buyers and sellers narrow in on an agreed-upon price, they clap one another’s hands in a theatrical display called handjeklap. The plaza’s Gothic town hall is a sight to behold!
