Holiday Vacations Donates to Food Banks

With Christmas right around the corner we’ve been making monetary donations to a variety of food banks in our area and beyond.

While donations of nonperishable foods are great, a major advantage of a monetary donation is food banks can purchase food at a lower cost than what we typically see at our local grocers. Hunger relief organizations throughout the country can stretch a single dollar to produce as many as three… five… or even ten meals!

Holiday Vacations has made recent monetary donations to these four food banks:

St. Francis Food Pantry – Eau Claire is located in Holiday Vacations’ hometown, Eau Claire WI. Comprised of religious Sisters and their team of local volunteers, this pantry is a major force for solving food insecurity in our county.

The Neighbors’ Place is a nonprofit organization based in Wausau, a city in central Wisconsin. Active since 1989, The Neighbors’ Place provides programs and services to residents in Marathon county including a food bank, a community learning center, Christmas gift assistance, and much more.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry – Ironwood is located in Ironwood, MI on Wisconsin’s border with the Upper Peninsula. They are part of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic charitable organization inspired by the person-to-person service of their patron saint. They provide assistance in their area for people in need of food, shelter, prescriptions, transportation, and more.

Churches United of the Quad City Area is a cooperative association of over 135 churches in the greater Quad Cities area, with a home base in Bettendorf, IA. The ministries include 24 food panties, three hot meal sites, and a shelter for women who are homeless or survivors of domestic violence, Winnie’s Place. Winnie’s Place is also supported by a resale shop called Winnie’s Wishes.
