TOURtales – Ginger G.

The first time I traveled to Alaska outside of the summer season, I remember having the preconceived notion that I would not see much daylight and it may seem dreary. In fall and late winter, the light is magical. The skies are often clear, offering magnificent mountain views and spectacular Alaskan alpenglow. What is alpenglow? During the extended twilight Alaska experiences, the sun sits just below the horizon with shades of pink, soft red and purple reflected onto the mountains and along the horizon. Discovering the quiet beauty of the light was delightful, and now I look forward to savoring that magic.
