Day Itinerary

Day Itinerary

Day 1 : Fly to Iceland

We begin with a relaxing overnight flight across the Atlantic.

Day 2 : Arrive in Iceland

Upon arriving in Reykjavik, we have a group breakfast before kicking off our exploration in the Land of Fire and Ice at FlyOver Iceland. Experience the ultimate introduction to this beautiful country with motion seating and a wraparound screen, simulating a flight over expansive mountains and glaciers. We also gaze upon the unique exterior of Harpa Concert Hall, take in beautiful panoramas of Reykjavik from the Perlan observation deck, and enjoy stunning views from the city’s best-known landmark, Hallgrimskirkja Church. Later, we check in to our hotel and get to know fellow travelers over a fantastic Welcome Dinner.

Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 : Reykjavik

This morning, we get to see more city sights of Iceland’s breathtaking coastal capital, including Aurora Reykjavik and Parliament, one of the oldest stone buildings in Iceland. Next, we travel through an undersea tunnel beneath Whale Bay and visit the Akranes Folk Museum to view a vast collection of architecture, maritime exhibits, and artifacts. Our journey then brings us to Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, which provides water and geothermal heat for much of the area. Today's adventure concludes with a stop at two incredible waterfalls: Hraunfossar, where several creeks cascade down a wall of lava rocks, creating a spectacular display of colors; and Barnafoss, steeped in mystery as it flows from the lava field, cutting deeply through a narrow canyon. Before dinner together, we check in to our hotel for the next two nights, located in the perfect area to hunt for northern lights dancing above.

Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 : Breidafjordur Bay

We depart this morning for Stykkisholmur, a gateway city to Breidafjordur Bay, where our boat awaits. Cruise the scenic bay and savor a delicious lunch while taking in vistas of tiny islands, quaint fishing villages, and majestic mountains. Marvel as the crew members lower a dredge to the sea floor to catch a large variety of shellfish for Viking sushi, then taste it straight from the pristine waters! Disembarking in Arnarstapi, we walk along massive basalt columns and see the famous Gatklettur rock. Our picturesque views continue at Snaefellsjokull National Park, with everything from moss-blanketed lava fields to jagged cliffs and pebbled beaches. Later, we head back to our hotel for dinner and relaxation before another opportunity to discover the mystical aurora borealis tonight.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 : Golden Circle of Natural Wonders

Today is brimming with farm-to-table foods and extraordinary marvels as we venture into the Golden Circle of Natural Wonders. We begin by exploring Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s oldest ongoing parliament. Admire the dramatic landscape where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, creating bulging lava fields and glacial pools. Next, savor a special lunch at Fridheimar farm before seeing how tomatoes are grown in their greenhouses year-round and learning about the fascinating gaits of Icelandic horses. Afterwards, we experience the power of Gullfoss Waterfall as glacial water thunders down a rugged canyon and stroll through the Geysir Hot Springs area, packed with bubbling mud pits and explosive geysers including Strokkur, which spouts water 100 feet into the air like clockwork. Our taste buds are then treated to regional delights at Efstidalur II farm while we hear about Iceland’s important dairy history, followed by a visit to Hveragerdi, the Hot Springs Capital of the World. Tonight, we settle into our accommodations in Selfoss and search the sky for shimmering lights.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 : Reykjanes Seacoast & Blue Lagoon

Rise and shine for a spectacular coastal drive along the Reykjanes Peninsula, a UNESCO Global Geopark. Have your camera ready as we view the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the only place in the world where it is visible above sea level! Next, we visit Iceland’s most popular attraction, the Blue Lagoon. Soak in the mineral-rich seawater, naturally a constant 102°F, and take advantage of the silica mud mask and beverage that come in your included Comfort Package. Feeling refreshed and energized, we travel to the fishing town of Grindavik for lunch, followed by sights of Lake Kleifarvatn, uniquely filled with underground water. Later, we return to Reykjavik and enjoy a celebratory Farewell Dinner.
