Enjoy superb sightseeing with expert local guides including all the landmarks that make our nation’s capital famous. Unpack just once in a luxurious hotel in Arlington. We acquaint ourselves with Washington, D.C. on a relaxing motorcoach tour exploring many presidential and war memorials on the National Mall. There will be plenty of time to browse Washington, D.C.’s world-class museums including the Smithsonian’s Air & Space Museum or the American History Museum. We will also visit George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate and witness the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

Day 1 : Fly to Washington D.C.
Today we begin our historical adventure with a flight to Washington, D.C.
Our home for the next five nights will be in Arlington.
We complete our evening with a delicious Holiday Vacations Welcome Dinner.
Day 2 : Memorial Visits
This morning, enjoy breakfast at the hotel before an expert local guide joins us to share the city’s incredible history during an educational driving tour. We view the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, inspired by the famous I Have A Dream speech; the Washington Monument, an iconic marble obelisk considered the most prominent feature of the skyline and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, a testament to one of the country’s most beloved presidents. Our tour continues this afternoon with the Jefferson Memorial, standing as a symbol of liberty and a site for reflection and the Lincoln Memorial, overlooking the reflecting pool and the site of defining moments in the country’s history.
Day 3 : Our National Monuments
We begin our day with breakfast at the hotel and then depart for another fascinating day of touring. We remember the brave heroes of our nation’s history with visits to the the Korean War Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Much more than the granite Memorial Wall, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial also includes The Three Soldiers, a statue depicting the multiethnic nature of American forces in Vietnam, and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, which commemorates the role of women in the conflict. Lunch and free time early afternoon will be at Union Station, host to 17 presidents and countless foreign dignitaries.
Day 4 : Mount Vernon
Today we savor breakfast at the hotel, then venture out of the capital city to neighboring Virginia.
Filled with colonial charm, the historic Mount Vernon Inn offers meal service served by staff in period costumes. After lunch we tour Mount Vernon, the plantation estate of George and Martha Washington located on the banks of the Potomac River. Experience a film in the orientation center, wonder at the estate’s grounds and Mansion House and see fascinating exhibits in the museum galleries.
After learning about the life and times of the Father of our Country, we return to D.C. for an evening at leisure.
Day 5 : The Smithsonian
After a scrumptious breakfast, morning and afternoon shuttles will be provided to the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum and research complex, featuring museums and galleries. These exceptional collections are fondly referred to as America’s Attic. Amazing exhibits highlighting the development of flight and the race to space are featured in the Air & Space Museum. The Natural History Museum features exhibits ranging from the earliest humans to modern mammals, and the American History Museum is devoted to the cultural, social and political development of our country.
This evening we enjoy a Holiday Vacations Farewell Dinner.
Day 6 : Arlington Cemetery
Begin the day with an included breakfast, then we visit Arlington National Cemetery to pay our respects. Take time to view the Kennedy gravesites, witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and see the memorial to the members of the Challenger crew.
We then board our flights home with memories of our time in our nation’s capital.
