Explore Alaska’s rich culture, majestic wildlife, and stunning scenery while traveling from Fairbanks to Seward. Begin in Fairbanks with an immersive sternwheeler cruise down the Chena River, then take in picturesque vistas on an Alaska Railroad journey to Denali. Enjoy a guided tour in Denali National Park, followed by time to pursue individual interests or book an optional excursion. Travel south to Wasilla to visit the Iditarod Trail Headquarters before traversing the Matanuska Valley en route to Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Watch the state’s heritage and history come alive at Anchorage Museum, then journey through areas only accessible by train on another awe-inspiring ride along the Alaska Railroad to Seward. Next, embark on an exciting catamaran ride in Kenai Fjords National Park to see an incredible tidewater glacier and various marine life. Our trip concludes with a visit to Alaska SeaLife Center and a celebratory Farewell Lunch.

  • Day 1: Fly to Alaska
    Upon arriving in Fairbanks, the Golden Heart City, we check in to our accommodations for a two-night stay.
  • Day 2: Fairbanks
    After a leisurely morning, our adventure begins with a photo stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and a Welcome Lunch at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge. This afternoon, we board the Riverboat Discovery III for a narrated cruise on the Chena River, featuring a floatplane and sled dog demonstration. Our boat also makes a stop ashore at a recreated Athabascan village so we can learn about Native culture and traditions before returning to our hotel.

  • Day 3: Scenic Rail Journey
    All aboard the Alaska Railroad! Today's breathtaking journey on the Denali Star takes us into the state’s rugged wilderness and Denali National Park, six million acres of pristine and protected land. We arrive at our Denali lodge, then spend the rest of the day pursuing personal interests. This afternoon is a great time to visit the Denali Sled Dog Kennels and book an optional flightseeing excursion or rafting adventure!

  • Day 4: Denali National Park and Preserve
    This morning, a naturalist guide joins us in the tundra of Denali National Park and Preserve. Marvel at the unspoiled landscapes as we keep watch for grizzly bears, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. If the skies permit, Mount Denali may grace us with a glimpse of its peak, the highest in North America. This evening, get a taste of old-time Alaska with an all-you-can-eat dinner theater experience in an authentic log cabin at Denali Park Village.

  • Day 5: Veterans Memorial & Iditarod Trail Headquarters
    Our day begins with a brief stop at the Alaska Veterans Memorial, which was dedicated in 1984 as a place of remembrance and honors each branch of service. After lunch at Settlers Bay Lodge, we visit the Iditarod Trail Headquarters in Wasilla to learn about mushing and the iconic Anchorage-to-Nome race. Tonight, we check in to our accommodations in Anchorage and gather for dinner.

  • Day 6: Anchorage
    Today, we discover Alaska’s largest city on a guided tour that features historic homes, Ship Creek, the Iditarod ceremonial starting line, and more. Over 40% of the state’s population calls this coastal city home, yet that only adds up to 300,000! Our tour ends at the Anchorage Museum, where local culture and history come to life. The rest of the day is yours to explore or shop for handcrafted souvenirs.
  • Day 7: Kenai Fjords Cruise
    We climb aboard the Coastal Classic for another spectacular journey on the Alaska Railroad this morning, heading south into the Kenai Peninsula. Have your camera ready to capture some of the state’s best scenery that can only be seen by train. We arrive in Seward, where a high-speed catamaran adventure awaits. Admire the natural wonders during our 120-mile narrated cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park and watch for sea otters, seals, whales, and other marine life. Our captain also stops for incredible views of a towering tidewater glacier! Our accommodations are in Seward tonight.

  • Day 8: Alaska SeaLife Center
    Our final day in The Last Frontier begins at the Alaska SeaLife Center. Get up close to a variety of animals, including sea otter pups and puffins, as we learn about the research and rehabilitation that helps some of Alaska’s threatened marine life. We then celebrate our adventures with a special Farewell Lunch before returning to Anchorage for our overnight flight home.

    We arrive back home today with treasured memories of our Alaskan explorations.
