Extension, Day 2: Local Culture & Gold Mining Our adventure begins with sights of the famous Trans-Alaska Pipeline as we make our way to Gold Daughters. Discover Fairbanks’ gold rush history at this family-owned site while enjoying an authentic gold-panning experience. You may even find a nugget to keep! Stepping next door to the mining museum, hundreds of historic artifacts await our exploration. Extension, Day 3: Denali National Park & Preserve This morning, we venture into the rugged landscape of Denali National Park and Preserve for a Tundra Wilderness Tour. At six million acres, it is one of the largest unspoiled regions in the world! Led by a naturalist guide, we keep an eye out for Alaska’s famed "Big Five" – bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and wolves. If the skies are clear, we may even catch a glimpse of Mount Denali’s towering peak, the highest in North America! The rest of the day is yours to pursue personal interests. Extension, Day 4: Anchorage Today, we head to Wasilla for a delicious lunch and a visit to the Iditarod Trail Headquarters. Learn about mushing and the iconic Anchorage-to-Nome race while viewing interesting footage and displays. Our journey then continues south to Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, where we explore its namesake museum. Browse impressive exhibits that detail Alaskan history, Indigenous cultures, and regional art. Later, we check in to our accommodations and have free time to rest or shop for unique souvenirs, such as handmade jewelry. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch |
