Highlights
Agricultural Splendor
Journey through the agricultural heartlands of these two countries to enjoy a wide variety of enriching visits while indulging in locally grown produce! In Australia, hear about the uses of Indigenous bush foods from the land’s original stewards at the Royal Botanic Garden, experience the rich viticultural heritage of the Hunter Valley, discover the impressive skill of performance horse breeding, and witness the vital role of irrigation in sustainable agriculture. Venturing into the New England Tablelands, see the intricate process of Australian gin production, indulge in flavorful fruit at a family-owned orchard, feel the famous wool at an Australian Stud Merino sheep farm, tour a trout hatchery to understand aquaculture’s importance to the region, attend a bustling cattle sale, and marvel at the artistry of crafting leather goods. We also explore the fertile soil in the Granite Belt of the Southern Darling Downs, known for its cropping enterprises and cattle feedlots.
Milford Sound Cruise in Fiordland National Park
Climb aboard a glass roof boat and glide through the pristine, unspoiled fiord of this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage-listed national park to see cascading waterfalls, lush rainforests, and the extraordinary life of the sound – playful seals, dolphins, birds, and maybe even an elusive penguin. We also view the iconic Mitre Peak rising dramatically from the fiord as well as Stirling Falls and Bowen Falls, dropping over 500 feet from valleys formed by receding glaciers.
Kuranda Scenic Railway & Skyrail
Board a historic train for an awe-inspiring journey through Barron Gorge National Park in Far North Queensland’s World Heritage-listed rainforest. Travel into narrow valleys between steep hillsides with cascading waterfalls while taking in views of otherworldly beauty, then enjoy a stop at Kuranda Village to browse local goods at the famous markets. Afterwards, we soar above the jungle canopy for nearly five miles on the Skyrail to hear the sounds of this ancient rainforest and watch for native wildlife.
