Highlights
It’s Canyon Country!
Arizona and Utah boast some of the United States’ most brilliant vistas, brimming with unique topography. Take in spectacular views of vast natural wonders that have been shaped by forces of nature over the course of millions of years. Broken down by wind and water, rock layers have been manipulated through erosion and climate change to create impressive formations in the Colorado Plateau region of the American Southwest. Watch how the warm sunset or sunrise enhances the gorgeous hues among the domes, cliffs, arches, canyons, and towers found in these dramatic landscapes.
Grand Canyon National Park
Carved over six million years ago through geologic processes of erosion and active tectonics, this UNESCO World Heritage Site stretches nearly 300 miles along the Colorado River and up to one mile deep. There have been over 3,000 ancestral sites dating to the prehistoric period found here. Due to the Grand Canyon’s wide variety of ecosystems, it also boasts nearly 450 species of birds along with bighorn sheep, bison, elk, and more. Take advantage of an unforgettable overnight stay within the park, right on the canyon’s rim. Watch the sunset over the rich red rock and observe the brilliance of thousands of stars.
Zion National Park
These lands were first settled 12,000 years ago with many tribes leaving stories in petroglyphs that are still viewable today. Learn about life back then at Zion Human History Museum or stroll down one of the accessible trails to take in the unique rock formations, sprawling mesas, and deep canyons. Sculpted by the Virgin River over millions of years, massive sandstone cliffs soar into a brilliant blue sky as high as 3,800 feet. Enjoy discovering the park’s remarkable views and wildlife on a narrated tram ride down Zion Canyon Scenic Drive!
Bryce Canyon National Park
With a vertical distance of over 2,000 feet, this park features diverse landscapes due to its three distinct climate zones. Watch for wildlife including mule deer, mountain lions, and golden eagles while admiring the endless scenic vistas. The horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters that have been formed by nature are wonders to behold, but the famous hoodoos, or colorful spires of rock, are what draw in visitors from all over. Bryce Canyon has the largest collection in the world!
