- Day 5: Beluga Whales & Prince of Wales FortOver 50,000 beluga whales call Hudson Bay home this time of year, and we’re off to see more of them today! Step aboard a zodiac for an exhilarating experience with vistas of unspoiled landscapes while our onboard expert guide helps us locate the distinctive white bodies and melodic calls of belugas. Later, we disembark for a guided walking tour at the Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site, a massive 18th-century stone fortress that once stood at the heart of the fur trade. Nestled along the shoreline, this area echoes tales of famous explorer Samuel Hearne and his Dene guide, Matonabbee, whose knowledge of the land made their expeditions possible. Watch history come to life as we view the remarkable interior and hear stories of exploration, trade, and conflict involving the fur traders, soldiers, and Indigenous people.
