Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens
Nestled along the serene banks of the Potomac River, this well-preserved estate offers a chance to step back in time and explore the life and legacy of one of our nation’s founding fathers, George Washington. As we enter the sprawling 500-acre estate, admire English boxwoods that Washington himself planted in 1786. The Palladian-style mansion, where George and Martha Washington once resided, has bordering detached wings that create a Court of Honor. See the furnished rooms inside, then stop by his final resting place for a moment of quiet reflection and stroll through beautifully landscaped gardens that have been restored to their 18th-century grandeur.
Guest photo.Washington D.C. Memorials & Monuments
Discover the most moving and symbolic tributes to America’s leaders and heroes! Stroll the National Mall to admire the towering Washington Monument, the neoclassical Jefferson Memorial along the Tidal Basin, and the grand Lincoln Memorial, where a 19-foot seated Lincoln is framed by massive marble columns. Journey through Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms of leadership in an open-air memorial and reflect on the influential legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose 30-foot statue emerges from the “Stone of Hope,” surrounded by a wall etched with his most inspiring words. To the east, the World War II Memorial pays tribute to the millions of brave individuals who served and over 400,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice during one of the most significant conflicts in history.
Vietnam & WWII Memorials
Just steps away, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial leaves a lasting impression with its stark black granite wall, where over 58,000 names of Americans who gave their lives are inscribed. Take the opportunity to rub a wax crayon or pencil on a piece of paper over a loved one’s name for a special memento. Facing the Wall of the Fallen is The Three Soldiers Statue and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, poignant reminders of the sacrifices made by both men and women in service. Our day viewing these landmarks showcases the enduring spirit of our nation, leaving you with a profound sense of gratitude and unity.
