Highlights
Route 66 Desert Icons
Step back in time as you explore Route 66’s most iconic and eccentric roadside landmarks. After World War II, businesses along this road competed for the attention of travelers by using giant neon signs, oversized arrows, and themed attractions. Feel the spirit of this bygone era as we see some of the boldest landmarks and signs! Snap a photo at the 1936 Art Deco Conoco Tower Station, marvel at the gravity-defying Leaning Tower of Texas, stand in awe beneath the towering Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, admire the famous concrete teepees at Wigwam Motel, and browse vintage treasures at Hackberry General Store. There’s also free time in preserved towns, like Williams, Seligman, and Kingman!
Grand Canyon National Park & Railway
Experience the Wild West at the historic Williams Depot, where the sound of gunfire signals a showdown between the notorious Cataract Creek Gang and the town marshal. Then, climb aboard our private Luxury Dome Car on the Grand Canyon Railway! With glass windows curving the full length of the second story, this exclusive car offers panoramic views of the high desert, ponderosa pine forests, and wide-open frontier as the train winds its way toward one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Enjoy private entertainment and expert narration as you relax in comfort. Keep your eyes peeled for a band of old-time robbers making their way through the train cars, bringing a bit of frontier mischief to life. At the canyon’s edge, disembark in the Historic Village District, where we enjoy lunch with sights of layered cliffs, plunging depths, and endless sky. Afterwards, spend free time strolling along the rim, exploring scenic overlooks, and soaking in the wonder of the Grand Canyon.
Elk City Museum Complex
Discover captivating tales about life along Route 66 from Illinois to California and pose with unique memorabilia! At the National Route 66 and Transportation Museums, snap a photo with Myrtle, a towering kachina doll, then hop behind the wheel of a 1955 pink Cadillac or catch a classic film in the vintage theater. Step into the Old Town Museum, a beautiful Victorian home filled with pioneer mementos. Nearby, the Farm and Ranch Museum showcases early tools of trade like windmills, while the Blacksmith Museum demonstrates how iron was shaped into everyday essentials. Outside, wander through beautifully preserved exhibits that recreate the frontier spirit.
Oklahoma City
Nestled along one of the most famous sections of Route 66, we begin exploring the city with a guided tour to see landmarks that celebrate the road’s legacy, like a towering neon soda bottle! Visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial for a moving tribute to the victims, survivors, and heroes of the April 1995 bombing. Later, relax on a scenic water taxi cruise with sights of revitalized warehouses and landmarks in the Bricktown district. We also browse exhibits on frontier life and Native American culture at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
