Discover Iceland’s best-known national treasures, mystical northern lights, and dramatic landscapes of ancient volcanoes and grandiose glaciers! Begin in Reykjavik with an exhilarating virtual journey at FlyOver Iceland, Perlan’s Observation Deck, and a guided tour of the stunning city sights. Venture into West Iceland to see Europe’s most powerful hot spring – Deildartunguhver – and the natural wonders within Snaefellsjokull National Park. Spend a day exploring the geological features within the Golden Circle, including Gullfoss waterfall, Geyser Hot Springs, and UNESCO World Heritage-listed Thingvellir National Park! Then, delight your taste buds with regional foods at Fridheimar Farm and traditional rye bread baked underground at Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Bakery. Travel along Reykjanes Peninsula for the world’s only view of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge above sea level before soaking up the famous rejuvenating geothermal spa, Blue Lagoon, complete with a beverage and silica mud mask. Of course, we also spend plenty of time seeking out the enchanting aurora borealis and learn how to photograph them for special photo keepsakes!

Trip overview may vary by departure.

  • Day 1: Fly to Iceland
We begin with a relaxing overnight flight across the Atlantic.
  • Day 2: Reykjavik
Upon arriving in Reykjavik, we indulge in a delicious breakfast before kicking off our exploration with breathtaking panoramic views from the Perlan Observation Deck. Next, we head to FlyOver Iceland for the ultimate introduction to the Land of Fire and Ice with motion seating and a wraparound screen, simulating a flight over expansive glaciers and volcanic valleys. After gazing upon the unique exterior of Harpa Concert Hall and the city’s best-known landmark, Hallgrimskirkja Church, there’s time to explore downtown on your own. Later, we check in to our hotel and get to know fellow travelers over a Welcome Dinner.

  • Day 3: Aurora Reykjavik & Folk Museum
This morning, we visit Aurora Reykjavík to discover the science and folklore behind the magical aurora borealis. Through engaging displays, hear stories of Icelandic legends once seeking to explain the dancing lights across the Arctic sky and learn how this spectacular phenomenon forms. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at leisure before our drive to the Akranes Folk Museum, a captivating open-air site where historic buildings, maritime exhibits, and fascinating local artifacts bring to life the story of coastal life in Iceland through the centuries. Arriving in the peaceful Reykholt region, we settle into accommodations ideally located away from city lights – perfect for venturing outside later this evening in hopes of witnessing the enchanting glow overhead.

  • Day 4: Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Our day begins with a visit to Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, where we stand in awe of the steaming waters rising from the earth and learn how geothermal energy fuels the region’s homes. We then witness the powerful cascades of two picturesque waterfalls: Hraunfossar, a series of crystal-clear streams trickling through ancient lava to create a spectacular display of colors, and Barnafoss, a mysterious torrent that carves its way through a narrow gorge. Later, we drive to Arnarstapi for a walk along massive basalt columns with views of the iconic Gatklettur rock arch rising from the sea. The dramatic scenery continues to unfold as we explore Snaefellsjokull National Park, featuring moss-covered lava flows, volcanic rock formations, and serene black-pebble beaches. Returning to the hotel, we enjoy dinner and relaxation before another opportunity to discover the vibrant aurora borealis tonight.

    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 5: Golden Circle of Natural Wonders
Today is brimming with farm-to-table foods and extraordinary marvels as we venture into the Golden Circle of Natural Wonders. We begin at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s oldest ongoing parliament. Here, the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, creating bulging lava fields and glacial pools. Our next stop is Fridheimar to savor a special lunch at the farm, see how tomatoes are grown in their greenhouses year-round, and witness the fascinating gaits of Icelandic horses. Afterwards, we experience the power of Gullfoss Waterfall as glacial water thunders down a rugged canyon. Our discoveries continue with a stroll through the Geysir Hot Springs area, packed with bubbling mud pits and explosive geysers, including Strokkur, which spouts water 100 feet into the air like clockwork. Later, we tour Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Bakery to learn how traditional rye bread is baked underground in the heat of a geyser, then dug up from the black sand. We also taste the warm bread with butter! Tonight, we check in to our accommodations in Selfoss and search the sky for shimmering lights.

    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

  • Day 6: Reykjanes Peninsula & Blue Lagoon
Rise and shine for a spectacular coastal drive along the Reykjanes Peninsula, a UNESCO Global Geopark. Have your camera ready as we view the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the only place in the world where it is visible above sea level! We then visit Iceland’s most popular attraction, the Blue Lagoon, to soak in the mineral-rich seawater that’s naturally a constant 102°F. Take advantage of the silica mud mask and beverage that come in your included Comfort Package! Feeling refreshed and energized, we travel to a nearby town for lunch before viewing Lake Kleifarvatn, uniquely filled with underground water. Later, we return to Reykjavik and enjoy a celebratory Farewell Dinner.
